OpTic Texas shocked fans with its decision to remove two of its star players – Brandon “Dashy” Otell and Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal

OpTic Parts Ways With Two Star Players

The Call of Duty League ended recently and teams and organizations are using the downtime in between seasons to reflect, train, and restructure. Esports operators are looking for new players to higher, all while masses of CDL players are registering as free agents. However, fans were taken somewhat aback by the recent information that the CDL’s biggest organization, OpTic Texas, has parted ways with two of its star players – Brandon “Dashy” Otell and Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal.

The news comes as a shock for many fans, not least because OpTic Texas’ owner Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez recently stated that the 2022 roster would stay together for the upcoming season. However, it seems that the many big names becoming free agents have shifted the organization’s business plans. Dashy already put out a Tweet saying he is also now a free agent, much to the shock of many of his followers.

What Happens Next?

The two players leaving OpTic comes as an even bigger shock when one considers that Dashy recently had his team option extended by OpTic and was an MVP candidate this past season. Because of this extension, the player is now a restricted free agent. He must work with OpTic to facilitate a buyout to another team.

On the other hand, ILLeY is completely unrestricted. He will be able to sign to any organization he wishes from August 22 onwards.

Currently, OpTic has not announced who they wish to sign to come in the place of Dashy and ILLeY, but this does not stop rumors. According to CDLScrimintel’s sources, OpTic is looking to acquire Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez. Some information says the player could be looking at a potential contract of $500 000. This would make HyDra the second-highest player in the CDL behind OpTic’s own Seth “Scump” Abner.

These rumors are supported by Dexerto’s sources. According to the website’s Jacob Hale, OpTic is looking at HyDra as well as former Minnesota player Dillon “Attach” Price, although nothing is yet certain.

It is also unknown what Deshy and iLLeY’s plans are. Perhaps OpTic’s decision came as a surprise to them also, so they probably have not yet thought through their options. If anything, it seems iLLeY’s response to OpTic’s Twitter post suggests the player might have a slight grudge:
