Breaking PS4’s Record
PlayStation5 has broken the record set by PlayStation4 by selling its 10-millionth copy a month faster than the old gen console. This has officially cemented PS5 as Sony Interactive Entertainment’s fastest-selling console. This new sales data comes from an official blog post by the company that celebrates the new milestone.
In the official Sony Interactive Entertainment blog post, the company’s head of global business, Veronica Rogers, praised the team behind the console’s development and thanked fans for their amazing reception.
Rogers explained that the current console’s timely release wouldn’t have been possible without the invaluable dedication of all of the company’s parties involved. However, the head of global business added that there is still work to do as currently, the PS5 supply hasn’t been enough to satisfy all of the demand. Rogers turned to fans of PlayStation by promising them that Sony will continue working on refilling the inventory despite all the difficulties the company is experiencing because of COVID-19.
In an interview with Reuters, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, lamented that the company is currently incapable of meeting the PS5 supply demands. He confirmed Rogers’ words by promising that Sony is working on this and will make sure that one day there is enough supply for anyone interested in owning the state-of-the-art game console.
However, Ryan is proud of his company on account of the console’s success as engagement has grown by a double-digit percentage, compared to the same time period after PS4’s launch.
New Games Coming to Keep PS5 Fans Excited
In the celebratory blog post, Rogers said that she is excited to showcase the capabilities of the new console via some of the newest exclusive games that are coming to the platform. Those include a new addition to the critically-acclaimed God of War franchise and Horizon Forbidden West.
Additionally, some of the already released games have already impressed fans with the impressive power of the PlayStation5 Console, with the Demon’s Souls remake being a prime example of how good the console actually is.
Moreover, the sales figures of some games have shown that PS5 is here to ride on a wave of success, with games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales selling more than 6.5 million copies.
PlayStation5’s reception has been incredible. The only thing that remains is for Sony to up their production.
